STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
OBJECTIVES
The Strategic Partnerships program provides a focus for open and engaged partnerships to drive strategic projects across the national statistical system. It ensures the ABS remains relevant to the changing needs of its partners and supports the ABS's transformation into a more responsive and integral partner with government. Specifically, this new program will lead wide consultation on issues, opportunities and options to reshape the ABS's legislative and governance framework to meet changing national priorities more effectively. The program will work with all levels of government and the community, and will support other areas of the ABS that are engaging with its partners, to:
- develop a business case to modernise the legislative and governance framework of the ABS
- improve coordination across the statistical system and reduce duplication through coordination and the development of a National Statistics Policy
- develop and improve statistical infrastructure and capability
- coordinate and support jurisdictional activities for ABS programs and progress national statistical priorities.
OUTPUTS
Outputs and outcomes of the program for 2015-16 to 2018-19 will be:
- progressing, in a highly consultative way, the modernisation of the ABS's legislation and governance framework
